The Moony Marigold Blog and Shop: Step Into The Shadow

It’s hard to know how to describe myself. Once upon a time I called myself a mechanical engineer; I graduated with the degree anyhow…but then I spent the next five years wandering between Colombia and Peru not doing anything remotely related to engineering—unless you count creatively engineering tasty foodstuffs to sell to tourists on the streets. Now? I’m just trying to figure out what comes next.
In all my wanderings, there were moments of stunning beauty and pure magic but also so many moments spent feeling more than a little lost. When I feel particularly plagued by the thought of having wasted precious time, seemingly without having really ‘gotten anywhere’, I take comfort in the reflections of our dear friend Bilbo Baggins, sentiments which anyone who has ever decided to embark upon an adventure might do well to remember: that a true adventure involves considerable boredom, no shortage of discomfort, temporary losses of conviction and, indeed, occasionally finding oneself very, very far from the intended path.
In short, I’m just a human, one who’s not completely convinced that this life is entirely random, and I’d love for this blog to be a place of discussion and exploration. I may post poetry, discuss philosophy or psychology, tell personal anecdotes, or relay the stories of others whom I encountered on the road. So come along for the ride if you’d like. We’ll peer into the blackness of the unnamed, watch for shimmers of whatever may live within, and call out to see if anything answers back.
